
Historic Onancock School Community & Cultural Center is a 13 acre oasis in the heart of Onancock VA.
The Onancock School property has been educating children on the Eastern Shore for over 150 years. The present building, now 96 years old, is in the midst of an 'adaptive rehabilitation' for re-use as a community & cultural center to benefit all residents and visitors to the Eastern Shore.

The historic school building is home to artisans and craftspeople, many working studios are open on weekends and by appointment. The Waterman’s Heritage Museum of the Eastern Shore is also a must-see for a fun informational and educational walk through our rich maritime history. Outdoors, open spaces and ball fields are available for walking, frisbee, people & pet exercise and picnics. Our playground area is equipped with a handicap swing and soft rubber mulch. Ride a bike or walk the handicap-accessible path along the native plant nature trail created by the Eastern Shore Master Naturalists, be sure to stop by the observation deck along the Onancock Creek where wildlife is abundant.
